New York Auto Show: 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang
Not satisfied with Ford’s own "California Special" Mustang? A muscle car brought to you by Hertz not making your blood boil? Then perhaps Steve Saleen can light a fire under your ass with his new Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang that not only does a great job harkening back to the past with visuals inspired by Jones’ own Grabber Orange Boss 302 Mustang from the early ‘70s, but also adds to the Mustang’s moxy with a 302 cid V8 that produces 370 SAE hp and 370 ft-lbs. of torque at a low, low, low 4,000 RPM. Further engine upgrades allow Steve’s new Stang to rev higher than most Mustangs ever will.
Other special touches include 302 valve covers, a black striped “shaker” hood, a 1970 replica rear wing and rear window quarter panels. There are even removable and reusable static cling decals included, one of Parnelli’s famous number 15 and the other a blue oval logo.
Suspension and brake upgrades as well as an interior tweak that invites the orange inside round out the 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang. While we don’t know how many units will be produced, we do know they’ll be sold in the mid-to-high $50,000 range.

It is good to see that Steve Saleen has the testicular fortitude to do what Ford won't do, build and sell a real Boss 302.

Soon the only rare special edition Mustang will be a plain GT. How many Special Edition Mustangs do we need Shelby GT500, California special, Saleen, Roush, GT500H, and now this. Man!

Way too many "special" additions but if they're selling, good for Ford. Not sure about the $50K price tag on this though.

I'll be interested to see whether or not a new edition of the Twister Mustangs ever make it to dealerships.
I like the PJ model...looks good. It's about time we start bringing back those great old muscle cars.

That is a fantastic looking car inside and out.
I've heard rumors of Ford producing a new BOSS Mustang in the next year or so but I doubt they could top the effort Saleen put into this. You never know though.

Its good to see saleen getting back to the mustangs and making performance vehicles that are more "affordable". And as far as too many models, how many differnt models were there back in the 60's and early 70's? probaly well over a dozen.

RE #8 Ford isn't selling these...Saleen is. Saleen buys a stock Mustang from Ford and then apply the Saleen modifications. All Ford gets is the "pub" and whatever they charge Saleen for the cars.
I don't think are too many special editions. Each one is pretty unique in looks and performance. I really like the Roush Stage III in black. Most of these special models are recreated from past models. Remember the previous gen Mustangs had multiple special editions.
Re #6 Spoken like a true commuter. Maybe you don't "need" a $50k Mustang but there are plenty of ppl out there that do.
Re #1 Ford had the balls to build a 475hp Mustang though. Guess that doesn't count huh?

may be if this meant prices were going down then mos def that would be a positive thing but

I believe it's a GT350H, not a GT500H!
I really like each new addition. Bring'em on. And if you are one of the people asking "Why do I need this", then this is CLEARLY not the civic or scion that you are looking for. I say, move along.

I agree with everybody who thinks that there are too many special edition Mustangs. The one I really wanted to see was the Mach 1 and they've been traipsing around that for 2 years now. Anyway, this Saleen looks nice. I don't like his more radical stuff on the 99-04 Mustangs, but this is a nice Vintage custom look. I don't like the interior, but it sounds like this sucker will kick some serious tail. I also don't know if i like the idea of the static cling decals. Sounds flimsy.

I love it! I was hoping Ford would use the Cammer 5.0 engine and make a Boss 302 but glad Saleen did this. I was disappointed by the styling of the "normal" Saleen Mustang - the 2-element taillights and "riceresqe" pin lights up front were in my opinion bad choices. This one looks great though!

The price too is very attractive.
